The A.O.F.B. originally supported Lady Fripp’s childrens charities based in the East End of London in the 1920’s. As the organisation spread local childrens charities benefited. When the organisation was wound up in the 1930’s a small trust fund remained and still supports the Girl Guides in the East End.
The idea of our modern Vats is to support the charities promoted by the pubs of our choice. This maybe for a variety of charitable causes. Our recent efforts have focused on St Peters & St James Hospice and Continuing Care Centre covering a catchment area of 200,000 people in East and West Sussex. St Peter & St James is located on the border of Wivelsfield Green and North Chailey in East Sussex.
Both the Watermill Inn and The Brewers Arms donate to St Peter and St James.

From 2019 we will also support The Chailey Heritage Foundation
A non-profit making Sussex charity which educates and cares for children and young people aged 3-25 with complex physical disabilities and health needs.
